OK... There is also a Report this Player button on their profile at the top if you wish to report their behavior to BGA.

As to blocking the ability to comment on profiles, you can make a "suggestion" type bug report in the bugs area (or vote for same if one already exists). Or you can try to plead with BGA about it when reporting the player I suppose.

Having an option to limit it to friends might be a good general idea.

Yes, I gave some examples to support this (what I consider) vulnerable current account protection, but this is not a reporting (per se), nor is it a moderation challenge!

I am sure BGA has a lot on their mind and I thank them for the time invested so we could benefit from playing, but I think bigger protection to one's private profile page needs to be made.

I received several continuous moderations from bga for this very thing. I wasn’t filing a report on anyone. After the 1st time I was moderated I even put that in the headline to be very clear I wasn’t filing a report on a specific person but in fact I just wanted to raise the topic about certain things within the moderation policy and was immediately banned again . Bga likes to make the “you are challenging moderations in forum” claim when it isn’t applicable. So I would be careful with that.

As for the topic, I don’t even know you but yet saw this message because we share a mutual friend. It did appear that they just went to your friends list and spammed this which is pretty messed up. This isnt the 1st time I’ve seen this sort of behavior either and wondered myself how to combat this. As most ppl I’ve seen this done to just have these harmful messages plastered on their wall forever. And if you aren’t someone who gets a lot of news on your feed (playing tournaments, new friends, etc) then the harmful messages could be the 1st thing someone sees as soon as they visit your profile.

As mentioned this appears to be a burner account. Who has actually done this for years if you take a look at their history.

About your game of bang, that sort of play is against the rules and reportable. This happens rarely and only when you come across trolls so I doubt the devs will do anything to combat it but Ive also been in that situation. And reporting won’t do much anyway as Ive mentioned this appears to be a burner troll account. I’ve noticed that most trolling activity in bang comes from new accounts and it would be nice if there was a feature to restrict by account age. But bga would probably deem that as discriminatory and will never happen.

I reread and see that you seem to have already reported them. Sorry, I missed that the first time around. Was skimming too quick. And also like you said, they can still find your friends and post to their pages and reference you. Without better privacy controls - there are old suggestion report(s) about that - it remains possible.

Hopefully this kind of thing is rare and you and BGA can find a suitable resolution via the report filed.

I've not personally seen anyone remotely so unhinged as the player attacking you but have noticed that certain types of games seem to attract a more questionable crowd. In my experience this was party/drinking games, real time games (but not often), game popularity, or the intersection of all of these. I tend to avoid these and stick with trusted friends and turn based for most games, but you shouldn't necessarily have to do that. But such is life sometimes. Good luck.

Edit: Agree. A red thumbed player ideally shouldn't have access to anything about you.

I think I should have kept my cool, but I went into panic mode.
If I get moderated for this forum thread, then so be it.
But at least I hope I brought some attention to a subject I personally consider important.

Social deduction games such as Bang and Werewolves are prime offenders in this regard. It does not surprise me one bit that this incident involved Bang.

I think Bang >>> WWs, since in WWs people usually are the same and tend to get to know you better over time; or at least you know they wouldn't do such unhinged stuff (even though nowadays one cannot be sure of anything).
In Bang it's very easy to come across an online bully like this who ruins your day with such garbage.

They allow posting comments on most anything - games, people becoming friends, a person becoming premium, etc. It's just in the framework. You could argue to remove it (which would be a suggestion/bug report) but somehow I doubt that would be a priority. Jerks tend to be jerks no matter what rules you put in place though. People have already mentioned that pesty people who get banned tend to just create another account and start their pesty behaviour all over again.

When you red thumb, there are two options. The top one is personal and just hides them from you, and the second one says something like "Everyone should avoid this player". I recall reading that this second option notifies BGA and lets you make your case why the player should be banned/moderated/whatever. I haven't tried it, but that option is there for cases like this.

At one point, "public" red thumbs (everyone should avoid) count impact your reputation. BGA then decided this was being abused, so they stopped that functionality. So now all red thumbs, public or private, do the same thing - they just stop you from ending up in (non-tournament) games with that player and prevent them from seeing what games you are currently playing. BGA does not get notified that you've done this or that they should look at this player. As you've correctly noted further in the thread, the "report this player" button is what you want if you want to have BGA look at a player's behaviour for moderation.
