To be honest, if I'm joining and I see that the ELO is higher than 350, i'm backing out.

By experience, 95% of ELO above 350 are boring and it's just a matter of picking two roads and just picking the same long wagon

It's ultra repetitive and super boring. I don't understand why so many people play that. I prefer the fun of a 100-350 and getting to try to complete objectives that are given to me.

Hence why I back out when joining.

If you are playing normal mode, you can set your elo restrictions to filter out “Strong” rank and above players. You can also consider playing one of the expansions like Mega Game rather than base TTR, because the base version does reward route points and efficiency quite heavily, hence the strategies you see at higher levels. Especially with the longest continuous path bonus in play. Ticket fiending is highly dependent on luck, costs tempo (efficiency), and backfires more often than not, which is why you may notice that at the higher levels players only draw additional tickets if they are losing.

I also disagree that high level play is boring, there is actually quite a lot of depth to it. But granted, if you prefer an objectives collecting game, it won’t be for you. In that case I think you should really consider Mega; having Globetrotter and the ability to choose from 4 tickets when you draw is quite significant, and may lead to the style of games that you enjoy more. ;)

I routinely will sit at a table, and then suddenly be removed from it. I don't think I'm being kicked as my rep is 100% and the tables usually have similar ELO.

And in the chat window it says "<my username> has left the table" as if I did it.
