Flip 7 and Premium Subscribers

Post by chills62 »

My sister in law and myself have been told that the reason we win a game, or get good flips, is because we are premium subscribers. I can't believe this is true. Has anyone else been accused of winning only because of being a premium subscriber? Is there any way to confirm that the algorithm does not take account status into account?

It's not a fun experience to be reprimanded for being a premium member. "well, you're only winning because your a premium member." Not fun.

Yeah. Red thumb, report them if you think they crossed the line into "misbehaviour" (not sure if that's defined anywhere), and move on. I think that's the most/best you can do.

Of all the things that could be levelled at me during play, this one is the most laughable. I might feel slightly bad if someone told me I was playing badly or did something dumb, but this would make me laugh out loud. And then red thumb them, and move on, as also stated. It's a ridiculous idea (for several reasons, detailed across numerous threads by various conspiracy theorists), don't let it bother you. That person will enjoy their experience on BGA a lot less if they want to believe the odds are rigged against them (and maybe they'll leave, which is good for all).

If you look into the game engine at all here, the code inside a game has no way of knowing if you are a premium member or not. So you can’t get better “luck” based on that.

If this really bothers you, there’s a setting to hide the little pennant on your avatar. (It’s under the “avatar” tab in your preferences.) Then they wouldn’t know you were premium (or at least it would be harder for them and they’d have to go look at your profile etc). I wouldn’t bother, though. Just reply “ha ha”, red thumb, and move on.

Here's a post including some good information about how randomization is programmed into BGA games:
https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewto ... 82#p251782

tl;dr: The random number generator has no idea how the game will use the number. The game has no idea whether you're a premium member.

That's not how conspiracy theorists think. The dice rolls, cards shuffling, etc., "feel" off, so there must be secret back end code that you aren't showing them that does know if you're premium.

TBH, reading the title of this thread I was expecting it to be a complaint about Flip 7 being rigged for Premium players.

Oh, I know. But OP did come here to ask if it was true or not. I don’t expect to convince any conspiracy theorists but I do hope OP understands how things work a little better now.
