Barmaid Sell Potion results

I am trying to figure out how to interpret sell potion results when I am using a barmaid card (potion counts as one tier higher)

Usually, if I am selling a potion and get a "+/-" result - that means the sign was right but the color wrong. But what if I see the same result while using Barmaid, does it mean that my actual result was a neutral potion (since that result is one tier lower) or do I see the actual "+/-" result but get better payout?

The result shown to you is still the same. It does not depend on the Barmaid. You always see the true outcome. However, the adventurer accepts the +/- result as exact match when served by the Barmaid. So, with the Barmaid you can guarantee one level more than the potion acutally is. You just get better paid (and, of course, avoid penalties of bad potions).

If you mix water or the wrong sign I think you still lose 1 rep, but you can mix the wrong sign and still get paid for water, or water and get paid for same sign.

Here's the example from the rules describing how the Barmaid works:

For example, let's say you play the Barmaid favor and guarantee that you will mix a potion with the correct sign. If you mix [neutral result], it counts as though you actually mixed [correct sign result]. You will not lose reputation for mixing a neutral potion and you meet the terms of your guarantee.

My mistake. I remembered getting a rep hit while using a Barmaid, but forgot it was because I mixed the wrong sign and water is still a rep hit.
