Is it allowed to run AI/ Browser automations on BGA?

Post by krishnashed »

I wanted to check if its allowed to run some playwright automations, ai tools, or browser automations on boardgamearena.com or studio.boardgamearena.com, I wanted to add AI in my workflow of building and publishing games on BGA, hence any thing as such would be helpful.

It would be great to get a response from BGA's internal team/moderators

Or how about this one where BGA specifically told you to stop spamming the forums with your push for AI.

What is it with all the threads about AI recently? This is a site to play board games with humans, not to test your AI programs.

You'd think if AI was so good at coding things people could just have it code their own site/interface for people to interact with it instead of trying to use their AI slop in inappropriate spaces.

Well, five of them were identical posts in different subforums by the OP. Granted, there are several other AI threads, but this particular user is single-handedly respondible for a lot of the influx. An admin asked him to give it a rest. I think he's just excited.

If he's excited, he can physically buy the games he wants to play against an AI with, and give the program the moves and play against it that way. What he is doing is more like he is trying to push the site to use AI.

They also copy and pasted the same thing to the BGA subreddit as well, under a different username, but the subject/body are nearly identical. Clearly them. They replied to a comment from another account which matches their BGA username.

And that comment sounds to me like they are entitled and are going to proceed anyway even though BGA said no.

All this after BGA told them to stop.

I don't know if it's ok to post a link to reddit, but you can easily find it. It's one of the most recent posts, same subject and similar timestamp as the start of this thread.

This user is talking about using AI to implement games on BGA. No, they're not going about it in a great way, but it sounds like many are misunderstanding what they're asking about.

OP, you should use the proper channels to discuss this: https://en.doc.boardgamearena.com/Conta ... t_or_setup

The type of person who is too lazy to write and debug the initial code themselves likely isn't going to support the game appropriately during alpha and later stages. Plus they so far are poor at communications. BGA said stop. They didn't.

Also, with AI there is the risk of inefficient slop bogging down browsers or servers, and/or more difficult to maintain code.

I come from the software engineering world. I wouldn't let this user anywhere my codebases, nor would I let AI near it or feed my / my firm's proprietary assets into an AI to do with/steal/whatever as they please. They shared BGA assets without BGA approval already. It's a massive issue IMO.
