with the gear discussion it is currnetly set so even if you select a guess the time still runs till every single player choses. Yes in base mode grabbing a chip stops the timer

When voting, while the timer does keep running, you can vote multiple times for the same option and get back something like 10 seconds each time. It's annoying but you can prevent yourself from going negative that way.
