Just couple things real quick, you are playing on Tharsis just say no to UNMI, you are already behind on the 8 ball with that. Even with UNMI, do the Black Polar Dust you draw 2 cards with that, 1 TR and heat prods comparing to Lava, drawing one card and 2 TR 3 more MC, giving up a potential free heat prod map bonus; there is really no debate, if you bought BPD, do BPD gen ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The draft was really bad, you can NOT give eco zone to hate draft Domed Crater, you can't do that. Let MG do MG things, let him do that with no card draw he could be dead anyway, I don't care about him getting steel bonuses. I care about getting one of the best scoring cards in the ENTIRE GAME. Same thing if you play against Tharsis, so what immigrate city is in your draft, it's still just a city, I am NEVER giving up AI Central for that. Eco zone is one of those cards that can beat out AI, and you give it up for free since you can't even take Domed.

Which circle back to NOT picking UNMI, sure there is no titanium targets, but I see artificial photosynthesis, strip mine, and quantum. That's all I need, that's tempo, titanium prod, and clear science path. I keep three cards and let it ride, with Large Convoy, maybe I can sneak in gardener with plantation. It's a far better corp than UNMI, because UNMI is not a chill dude, he is all now all the time. You can't do anything with guys like that, they are not going to accomplish anything. You need have patience and wait things out to develop, Phobolog can do that for you.

This game, you have to push through it, it will frustrate you and make you feel like there is nothing you can do about it. But you can, there is always an out, you may not hit it, but it's there.

I agree with the opening pick. Pass gen1 into ArtificialPhoto+StripMine gen2 — you don’t have to force UNMI’s ability every gen. Draft EcoZone over DomedCrater. I didn’t watch past that moment — the game looks grim either way but these are big mistakes. Also — this game would be very winnable with some half-decent preludes. It’s not that bad of a hand.

So, UNMI and artificial photo and strip mine, pass and play those on gen 2. I assume I am keeping black polar dust and lava flows? Is my 1 science tag enough to justify keeping quantum extractor?

if I keep 4 cards, I have 28 MC. pass, 48 MC, and I might need to buy a card or 2 in the gen 2 draft.
Artificial + Strip mine + ability is 40 MC, leaves me with 8 MC minus 3*(# of cards bought gen 2).
Not sure there's enough money to keep quantum extractor.

Gen 3 I don't have a lot of money; I assume I am looking for a titanium and/or steel target.

Getting StripMine into play costs 37mc so you need 40mc to activate UNMI’s ability — therefore you can afford EcoZone and Lichen. I plan to play BlackPolarDust gen3 (maybe Lava if I can get the heat bonus).

Good thinking. My opener is the same as yours. Extractor is not a good fit here (this UNMI setup can’t really afford science cards). You have 48mc gen2. Getting StripMine into play costs 37mc so you need 40mc to activate UNMI’s ability — therefore you can afford EcoZone and Lichen. I plan to play BlackPolarDust gen3 (maybe Lava if I can get the heat bonus).

I definitely don't agree with that line, BPD on gen3? Give up two cards and heat prod and UNMI trigger on gen1? And no there is never a clear UNMI hand, bc it's UNMI, we tried, trust me we tried, UNMI is not happening against a good player.

The difference is that you get rewarded for passing with Phobolog, while harshly punished as UNMI. As UNMI you can't afford to wait and chain up your combo.

Strip gen 2 is going to be a much more explosive start than 2 TR gen 1 with 3 heat prod. You can sacrifice a gen early on to get the strip down and receive the boon of 8 mc worth of prod or you can sacrifice a gen later on and have less production early game. It really doesn't seem that close to me. And going phoblog with the hope of drawing something you can dump tit into is so bad. What's the chances you draw asteroid mining or IO? It's clearly UNMI.

Strip is explosive alright, but what are you going to do with that science tag? You are not going for science, so you are playing a bad energy card for strip mine, then what's your long term? Hope for miner? Are we going for builder? UNMI is just dead. I am playing to win, and Phobolog gave me the best chance to win, not UNMI's gen 2 strip mine and depleting all my cash.

You have no heat till gen 3, behind on tempo and going nowhere with Planner, gardener nor builder, triggered UNMI once in 2 gens. This is how Elo 300 to 600 die in those situations. They think UNMI strip mine with photosynthesis with no science path on Tharsis is good. With Phobolog I have no problem passing for couple gens for 2p. It's all good, I can do whatever I want with my reserve, and my opponent have no idea how to counter me, I can go jov, science or terraforming. Your opponent doesn't have to guess very hard what UNMI gonna do here.
