Who is on my left/right side?

Post by koningco »

In one of my first games of Libertalia I found out that a different player was on my left side than I expected. This is important to know when the Monkey card is in the game. It's also important to know who is on my right side, because this player can use his/her monkey card against me. Can anyone explain me how I can find out who is sitting to the right and left of me? There is an old topic about this, but there is no confirmation there. Maybe the player below me on the list is the player on my left side (while I expected this would be the player on my right side, which I found out was not the case).

It would also be nice if a solution can be implemented, for an example the developer can look at a table with more than 2 players of the game Castle Combo. There the players on the right and left are shown in the player list on the top right of the BGA table.

This is definitely a problem with the implemented version here.

Yes, the player whose name appears below yours on the players panel is the one to your left. I double-checked it with this game (right now ongoing):

and with this one that's already over, where I was a player as well -- in move 192, for instance, I use the Monkey to pass the cursed relics to the player whose name appears below mine (scinque):

There's this problem because here on BGA, our "dens" (the player boards) are displayed on the top of the playing section for our convenience. This is surely nice, yet it causes trouble especially with the Monkey. Not only with the Monkey but also when you want to use the sabers on your "neighbors" -- who are they: well, don'tlook at the dens, look again at the players panel; the player displayed below you is your left and the other player whose name appears at the end of the list is your right neighbor.

A simple indicator of the left and right neighbors could easily solve this.

I've seen a game that uses arrows in player colours in the player list / player panels to indicate neighbours. The 7 Wonders series of games also come to mind, don't remember if I am thinking of one of these, Castle Combo or another one.

In any case, what is needed to get something done is to make a bug report with a suggestion.

I haven't played Libertalia for months now, but if anyone wants the arrows to be added: you can point the developer via a bug/suggestion report at Castle Combo where the arrows are implemented.
