BGA Survey

Post by lyrebird »

I just received a survey request, and thought why not provide feedback.

I started filling it in, until I got to question 6. At this point the English Questions/Answers became French.

So I just answered A A A A A A A ..... until the end of the form.

You might want to adjust this survey form in future.

FYI

I got it all in French after the email was in English. I do speak French and completed it, but it's for sure a bug somewhere.

You should never click on links in unexpected survey emails even if it looks legit. And in this case the url looks VERY dubious:
djfdl.r.a.d.sendibm1.com

This looks very much like a phishing attempt to me

The email was sent in a newsletter from BGA. The link is likely the host they're using for survey design. There was no personal information they could have stolen from completing that survey.

Looks like a bug.

For me the link directed me to the survey in French. I do not speak French.

I'm surprised that they wouldn't just post it as a news item on the main site as they have for other surveys (best games in category X, for example). That way we can be sure it is a safe link. Other surveys were also integrated with the website. No sketchy third party was involved. With how much data gets captured, bought, sold, and correlated across sources for nefarious purposes today, pretty much any third party is suspect.

The lack of being pre-translated for a global site is questionable. At least translate the most common X languages and send appropriate links based on primary language preference. There should be little to no friction for the user.

Until an official BGA admin states otherwise, I'll assume these are not legit and either they were hacked, or hired someone incompetent to run it.
