Yup, the value for the money is fantastic, at least in the US and probably other rich countries. I have no idea if the price is set appropriately for poorer countries. Hopefully it is.

I feel similarly when someone complains about people going over time or whatever, and then I click to their profile and see they have a boatload of time issues themselves.

That is literally the sole purpose of a company.

Maybe if more people paid for a premium membership, this would be a non-issue.

And yet, there are an astounding number of non-premium members, when a premium membership costs literally 12 cents a day!

For TWELVE CENTS A DAY members can get a lengthy list of benefits on a site that offers many things no other site does. End-game statistics, ability to create game tables, unlimited ability to play all games, unlimited ability to view game replays.

And still, some people COMPLAIN about the site? Come on. This is absurd.

And still, many people "cannot afford" a premium membership. RIGHT... YEAH... People who are fortunate enough to own computers and have internet access "cannot afford" 12 cents a day for a great website. And many of the non-premium members have the audacity and temerity to complain, as though they are not getting their $0.00 dollars worth?

These malcontents should go elsewhere and try to get something better for their $0.00.

ALSO, since the subject if this thread is AI - one frequent feature request from players is the option to play against an "AI" in their favorite games. Why exactly is this a problem?
Not everyone can afford even 12 cents a day. Some people are struggling to get by. And/or may not be employed at the moment. Some places have crazy mortgages or food prices or inflation. Stop presuming that just because you can afford it everyone can. Some of us do our best to get by, and would love to go premium if we can afford it one day.

Obviously people are talking about AI generative content rather than playing solo against programmed players. You are bringing up a non-issue. Plenty of games have a solo mode or programmed computers to play against (think of the legends in Heat).

If they add generative AI to BGA generally that will be the last straw. I don't support generative AI projects at all. I will delete my account. Seems to not just be me. There is a reason why no one plays that generative AI match game they have for no reason. They've already ignored us on the tournament updates and a bunch of other gripes that I have. The generative AI would be a step too far for me, and this is from someone who is accustomed to playing on this site every day.

12 cents a day is a tremendous bargain. I would guess it is very difficult to run a website with as much functionality and as many features as BGA while charging so little. Companies cannot exist without revenue.

I am surprised BGA is able to offer so much while charging so little.

BGA is a luxury in life, not a basic necessity such as clothing, food, shelter, etc.

Each person has an individual choice to make regarding whether 12 cents a day is in their budget. If it is not, so be it, but I am puzzled by people demanding more than what we already get.

Then perhaps they should re-examine their priorities of BGA versus life functions?

If anyone cannot afford 12 cents a day (which I call BulSh_t on ), then WTF are they doing spending time on BGA anyway?

And if they chose to spend time on BGA instead of finding a way to afford 12 cents a day, well, yeah, see my above sentence.

I mean, a can of monster energy drink or a burger at McDonalds is a month's worth of BGA premium.

If people can afford that, then they are choosing that rather than supporting BGA with a premium membership.

And if they genuinely are not spending ANY extra money on unnecessary goods or services, then, again, see my first statement. BGA is a luxury, not a necessity.

And if anyone truly cannot afford 12 cents a day, then why are they spending time on BGA instead of finding a way to make their life decisions not dependent on 12 cents a day decisions>?

The problem is, people want that soda or McDonalds's burger or pack of cigarettes, or beer, and still want to whine abbot how unfair they perceive BGA to be.

What a load of F_cking bulls__t.

Open offers: Anyone who claims to not be able to afford a premium membership, send me your contact info and all your financial info. Show me that you're not wasting $4 a month on non-necessities. Do that, and I will pay for TWO years of premium membership.

I'll wait patiently while nobody actually takes me up on that offer.
Your arguement is trash and you're coming across snobbish. You are generalising a wide group of non premium players. I know people on here that literally can't afford premium right now but use the site as a small break from a real tough time right now.

Yes I'm sure there are plenty of people that complain who can afford premium, and some of their complaints are meh, but some are genuine issues that should be addressed . Generalising them all as ungrateful freeloaders isn't a good look.

I do not believe my argument is trash, but I should have phrased it better.

I apologize for my tone and I rescind my posted statement. I will amend my post.

I hear you. I am one of those people. I use BGA as a break from some very difficult life circumstances.

I compared the value of X (X being what I receive with a non-premium membership) to the value of X + Y (Y representing the additional benefits of a premium membership) and made the personal decision to gain Y by paying 12 cents a day.

People who choose not to pay 12 cents a day to gain Y but then still complain about not getting sufficient value - I find that puzzling, and yes, to me it does come across as ungrateful considering how much value X provides at a cost of $0.00.

AI and ads are against the freedom of internet.
Corporate capitalism is against humanity.

edit: I think EU should monetary support/subsidy this kind of sites/communities not corporations.

I think it is antithetical to the whole point of this site. It also risks making realtime matchmaking with actual humans even more difficult than it already is. (I’m less concerned with turn-based since you don’t have to sit there and wait for it, but it will also take longer.)

True, matchmaking could become more difficult if a lot of people decided they prefer to play against robots instead of other people. Some people have suggested having a robot opponent available to fill in as a placeholder in a game in which one player runs out of time to avoid the problem of the game being cancelled and the result nullified. But if AI were implemented for that purpose, it is unlikely that it would be limited to only that purpose.

The government should pay for leisure websites? That's an interesting viewpoint - one that I do not agree with - but I would be interested in further discussion (given that you haven't really explained why you feel this way).
