Pénalité pour réflexion ?

Post by Did_68 »

Bonjour,

Was there any communication in the game chat?
Two suggestions:
1) if you are approaching a negative timer, be courteous and tell your opponent in the chat that you are sorry, but you need a little more time to think.

2)Join premium so you can create games with a lot of time in case you need it (slow setting)

Sometimes the player will create a fast game because they are on a lunch break or have limited time, so you can never assume that they will be forgiving of your slowness.

I have been in games where I've tried to communicate in the chat, asking if the player is still there after 4 minutes of negative time, but had no response. Finding out 40 minutes later that they were traveling with no reception etc. So I understand that there needs to be a balance, but it can't always work this way.

In fact, one of the rules in the code of conduct is to not let your timer run out, and you even get a time penalty if you do- so, if a player kicks you, you can't really fault them either.

Player was in right to kick, but also player could do other things. Turning game into TB mode so you can player it in that mode, or to met again later to play it like real-time. Or to abandon it without kicking anyone (not possible in coop games).

Player should consider this because slow play might be effect of technical difficulties from BGA side (server crash, page not refreshing information, page bugs, game replaying history on its own). That all can happen to a kicking player. So worth think of that when you decide kicking someone, even if you are in right to do so.

This was a multiplayer game so it becomes harder to argue that you can't really fault them. The person who kicked out probably didn't ask the other players if they were okay with that.

But even if they didn't ask, you still get a warning that someone is wanting to expel you, then you get a grace period to finish your turn after seeing that message- so that counts as being informed that you're about to get kicked.

Based on the graph above it appears the player in question went well over their alloted turn time, so it doesn't seem like we're talking about a situation where they were kicked out the instant their timer went red?

I don't think it's unreasonable for an opponent to get frustrated if you're taking too long, but again, the key is to communicate in the chat. It's not hard to type something like : hey sorry I need more time to think etc

I meant the other players in the game probably weren't asked their opinion.

You could make the argument that a player who goes out of time can't really complain about being kicked out. But that argument doesn't work for the other players. Those are innocent people being harmed. And if the person kicking out couldn't wait a minute, they probably didn't bother asking others either.

I'm sure the player who did the kicking wasn't asked if they were okay with one player's turns taking 5x as long as everyone else's, and as such the game taking significantly longer than they expected when they looked at the table settings.

It's probable they didn't have time for a game that was going to be significantly longer than the expected duration, and there is no obligation to let someone monopolize your time because they didn't pay attention to the speed settings of the table. This is a real time game after all, it's not like they could go do something else while waiting.

Bonjour,
