The Best of Year 2026 tournament

Post by ELiOne »

The “Best of Year 2026” tournament will begin soon (on July 1st).
https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=573100

All players with an ELO rating of 300 or higher are invited to participate. There are 128 spots available.

The tournament is divided into three phases: Summer, Fall, and Winter.
At the end of each phase, the top three players will advance to “The Very Best of 2026.”

May the best player win—or whoever rolls the best dice!

NOTE: The organizers of this tournament do not intend to diminish the significance of existing or future tournaments in any way.

You have set 10 days per game, that is simply not enough time to complete a 2 lap race with 8 players.

Yes, that seems insufficient.

Well, if it's 2 months per game, with 4 games, the first tournament will finish around 1st March next year (If you get to have 128 players, so 22 games each round, I'm pretty sure you'll get at least a game to take the entire period of 2 months to complete 3 laps each round). Assuming you'll start the fall one on 1st September and the winter on 1st December, with the same rules, the last one should finish at the beginning of August 2027. That pushes the start of the very best of 2026 well into the second half of 2027!

A lot will depend on how fast the players are. Each player has 10 days, but that doesn’t mean they have to use all of it.
This tournament is reserved for players with an ELO rating of 300+; if it had been possible, I would have opted for ELO 400+, and this group of players is usually very quick to play.

Phase Two begins regardless of whether Phase One has been completed. So technically, it should wrap up by spring 2027 with the Grand Finale. (Spring is precisely the missing phase from the year 2026, which is being re-introduced as the finale.)

Two months for 6 players should be enough, but you might want to remove the playing hours, that feature is currently bugged, and 4 months per game would simply be too much anyway. https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=209956

Thank you for your suggestions. This could be a viable solution for phases 2 and 3 (Fall and Winter), at least until the bug is fixed (if it ever is).
