Time zones in turn taking games makes the playing hours useless

I want to create a game of terraforming mars that I can play through in a day or two, but whenever I create a game where the playing hours are (for example) 7 am to 7 pm each player’s playing hours are based on their time zone so we are all playing at different times. Why is it not possible to create a game with set hours regardless of time zone? Or, why can’t I create a game and only allow people on the same continent as me to join? A game that takes 90 minutes to play shouldn’t have to take a week to complete on turn taking mode.

Considering you have 12 forfeits and 87 clock violations in your recent history, maybe you are the reason your games are taking so long?

Why have you still not taken your turn in your 4-player TFM game? You were active 1 hour ago, and are well into the negative.

Upon further reflection, it seems like NONE of the people at that table should be playing fast turn-based games. It's impossible to tell if anyone at this table besides the person who created it specifically chose fast turn-based, or whether they just had the "flexible" toggle on.

I'm sure BGA thought this flexible toggle was an improvement in user experience because it makes match-making faster and "simplified" the old system of having to choose between "okay with," "I prefer not to," "I'm reluctant to," and "I never want to" in automatic match-making. But in the old system, you couldn't accidentally end up in a fast turn-based game because that setting was "I never want to" by default. So changing it would have to be a conscious choice. My understanding is that with the flexible toggle, all options are open even if you are unaware they even exist.

Possibly. I hate the slow turn-based, but I couldn't get games when I had the restrictive setting only being okay with fast turn based, so I expanded by preference to allow all.

Much to my frustration, almost all my games are slow turn based. Not just slow, but very slow.

I mean, they probably would assume this sort of speed exists. If they decide to toggle « flexible », they should be prepared with that. It seems the issue here is with people not knowing what they want, not the system.
