Why does the Arena end date for seasons keep changing?

I thought I had noticed this in a previous season, but couldn't be 100% certain, but this time I am, the end date for this Arena season has been moved back a week overnight. Surely this is not right in a league system to be changing the end date mid-season so late into the season?

I don't think this is possible. Every season is 90 days, and the inter-season only lasts a few hours at most. So you must be mistaken about having noticed a week difference.

I am not, overnight the end date has 100% changed, and been moved back a week. The season is no longer 90 days, look for yourself.

It's impossible, it must be a bug. Arena seasons last 90 days by definition.

Edit: I see the change too now. That must definitely be a mistake.

I don't think it's the first time this has happened, I believe it already happened once, last time I wasn't actually playing Arena at the time to definitively know, but Arena seasons used to begin around the 7th, notice it's now 14th, and will be 21st with this change. But this time I know they have changed the end date since yesterday, because only yesterday I was thinking about starting new turn-based games and deemed it not worth it as they might not finish in time.

There is also a competition aspect to this, that surely you cannot be changing the goalposts with 2 weeks left in the season?

A year is 365 days, not 360, so it's normal we'd see changes from year to year. But this sudden change seems abnormal. Maybe the previous date is the one that was wrong.

For context I believe this also happened in Season 23, you can notice if you look at results pages, that it also was longer than 90 days.

Changing the goalposts to what is meant to be a competitive format with 2 weeks left in the season is nonsense.

Yes. Razor isn’t imagining things. I didn’t know what the end date was but just got the urge to hop in arena yesterday. It said 16 days and I thought this isn’t nearly enough time and was going to wait until next season to think about hopping in. Then today I thought “oh well! I will play for fun the last few weeks and not to win” and noticed there was more time added.

I wonder if they quietly extended the season to account for the server downtime?
