Game Suggestion: American Mahjong

This is NOT Mahjong Solitaire - there's already a huge abundance of places to play that on just about every platform under the sun. This is another 4-player variant of Mahjong that has had a recent boom in popularity.

The game is officially run by the NMJL(National Mah-Jongg League), and usually to play, a player has to have a current-year hands card, which is sold and distributed by the NMJL. This contains the hands that are valid to win the game for that year. Every year the hands change, which I guess is supposed to "keep the game fresh and your minds at work".
--HOWEVER---
There are multiple hand cards online that are free, and don't change every year. So the BGA implementation could easily just use one of those, and that would reduce the need for upkeep of the game every year when all the hands officially change and the previous year's hands are no longer valid.
It's also come to light that NMJL Cards from before 1964 are now currently in the public domain (in the US). So the implementation could also possibly use those for an option for winning hands, if and when they become available.

This happens often enough that I wish BGA would give out 10-day forum bans for people who skip the pinned topic entirely and feel that their suggestion is somehow more important than everyone else's.

When I saw you had reacted I wondered if you have a post ready to copy paste for these suggestions.
It seems not to be so nd it seems you type the message out every time.


Know that I think you do good work and I like your (usually) non confrontational way of communicating and redirecting posters to the right forums or threads.thanks for that.

Hope this helps to get you a littlen less grumpy and ready to either set posters on the right track or alternatively give you the energy to ignore them altogether and let somebody else do the redirecting.
