Priority bug fixes?

Post by LaidBackAries »

How long will it be until BGA starts looking into bugs that should be considered urgent?

Several members have reported an issue with Cloud City. Tables are stuck on the "opening box" screen. Which means that we can't do anything about it ourselves. :( And I'm guessing i can't start new games. It's hindering my use of the site, since there's no hot key to skip a table and it always goes to that table. It may affect my reputation as well and that's not fair (hopefully they'll reverse that though). It's been at least 5 days now that this has been an issue and none of the bug reports have been looked at. I don't know what else to do at this point. :/

BGA Staff doesn't maintain any games; just the overall site. You'd want to reach out to the Cloud City developer.

For which games? All of them? Just one?

If it's just one, you can volunteer to be a developer and fix bugs. It's how games get fixed. Just visit studio.boardgamearena.com and be the change you want to see in the world.

I started a table yesterday not knowing the game is broken, and like the original poster said,it's stuck on opening box.
The only fix I could find was to go the address bar and delete the address letters and numbers until i leave just the boardgamearena.com.
But if the staff are only managing the site, can they at least take the game down so we can get out of the loop? Or maybe find us a solution, a button to skip the table and go to the next one that works?

Yes, i sent the developer a DM on July 2nd and received no response. BGA handles issues with their website and given that there was no update I'm guessing it's an issue that BGA should fix (but i could be wrong).

It's ALL the tables from the past 10 days or so. I'm not a developer. I looked into some potential solutions and none of them are within my wheel of knowledge, unfortunately.

I WAS able to search for the game and get it to show up without opening the table. I could quit from there but had to take a penalty. :/

I had a look at it and made a small fix that should unlock all tables. I closed the associated tickets.

It is quite hard to be able to differentiate responsibility right now, as to the casual player, it feels like wider site changes are causing bugs within multiple games.

We have a stuck 10-player Pingimus game at the moment, that no one can access and judging from bug reports, it's a game-wide problem. As there appeared to be an active developer not too long ago, I was hopeful of some response to my bug report but it's been 11 days and at some point, this is going to time out.

It doesn't seem to be a sustainable system to air our issues in the forums and hope a dev takes pity (although thank you for your attention, thoun).
