There were definitely some mistakes. I was probably half my current elo at the time.

Reviving an old thread here.
Earlier this week I ended up chatting with another tournament player and gave as a suggestion for getting familiar with maps that playing a few solo games is a fun, fast approach. And having said that, I had a crack at the solo game myself.

The ones that worked out best:

One thing I've noticed: somehow I enjoy playing on Vastitas best, and it best fits my style of play. I'm fine with Tharsis and Elysium, but somehow I've never come to enjoy Hellas. That map feels like a slog to me. I have the same thing in competitive play: I tend not to enjoy games on Hellas much, even if I get a strong game going and end up winning. In the solo game, I didn't get any particularly high scores on Hellas (also tried with Preludes) - and got to the 80-90 range. So with random maps, I keep my fingers crossed and hope that Vastitas shows up - and will simply grin and bear it when Hellas appears.

I think I've done enough solo play over the past week. Here statistics on 16 games, all base game, that I played. I suppose that Vastitas simply offers better adjacencies and pickups for the games I played. I did abandon a few efforts, so won't claim a 100% success rate. Base game probably also inflates the score, because it runs to 14 generations, also for games where the terraforming competed earlier (no earlier than generation 13 in my games). Here a rundown of 16 games:

[Caveat: these are not full stats on all my solo games, but only a sub-set I played recently that I ran some AI queries on. All in the spirit of giving some background to the spread of scores I was getting. I've omitted some abandoned games that would not have completed the terraforming task.]

Your corporation count seems to total 17.

Why abandon some of the games? That skews the data.

I wouldn't say base game inflates the scores because it goes to gen 14. The 12-generation limit offsets the advantage of preludes. Similar to the colonies advantage being offset by starting money production at -2.

In my experience, I scored higher with preludes than without, even with the shorter 12-generation time frame. Same with Colonies.
