Using medkits and pills in hiring

I was playing a game and couldn't use pills or medkits when I tried to hire. If you can't use them, what's the point of having them?

I had a similar issue where items wouldn't select, and it was my first game so was very confusing. Fixed by removing script blocker on the browser. Or try another browser.

I had a similar problem with using a lone Medic to hire. I reported it in Bugs, if anyone wants to vote for it.

If a 'script blocker' seemed to be the cause as suggested above, it would be nice to know how to fix it, and in which browser!

Is there a solution yet for this problem? I like the game but its hard to win without hiring
