I found this thread after feeling the same way. I haven't read it all, and maybe I am wrong too, but I feel that whether I am playing in Arena or just general, when I play with someone ranked over 300, the cards are always in their favour. I know how the game works, and I know I can focus down on a particular strategy I want to try and see play out and make the wrong moves. I don't even really watch the other player to make spiteful blocking draws of cards. But far too often I go and see they have a forest full of deer and beech Marten with all butterfly multipliers that I didn't even see come through. Something is fishy, surely.
Turns out the OP that posted about their so-called bad luck was lying, as is common in such situations. Maybe it was an ego thing, and they just didn't want to admit they weren't as good as they thought they were. Lots of players think they "know what they're doing" even when they don't. The 300 thinks they're playing well, but the 500 is crushing them because in reality the 300 is messing up. Don't even get me started on 100s, which makes things a confusing mess because 100 is the lowest rating you're allowed to fall to, so a lot of 100s are actually even worse, so it makes it harder to get an idea of their actual skill level.
It's not a Forest Shuffle thing, these sorts of issues pop up all over the place in different games, whether it be online or IRL. Plenty of people really have no idea just how bad they are but want to keep an overinflated sense of themselves in their heads and don't want to confront that. It doesn't help that people often don't have a good understanding of how luck works either, and when you throw in self-bias it just gets worse. That's where you get all of these threads about people saying they're unlucky/the game is rigged and when it gets looks into it turns out to be rubbish.
