Sadly,if somebody passes in the initial workers phase,that totally wrecks the game.

If I recall correctly, the rules specifically state NOT to pass in the initial worker phase and to buy 2 workers.

I haven't/couldn't translate the original rules.But I couldn't see anything in the English Rules to prohibit passing in the first two rounds.It seems to be permitted by the BGA interface,which has a pass option [I haven't tested that,for obvious reasons].

That was new for me. But I found this rule in the second Version rules on Hans-im-Glück homepage.

I am quite sure it wasn´t mandatory in the original rules

Found it! Original it wasnt mandatory but recommended

Sorry,still not clear,so is that actually a rule in the second version ? Part of the problem arises because the English translation of ''everybody should' might or might not refer to a mandatory instruction.

In the second Version the buy is mandatory.

Short translation.
In the first turn everybody must buy until he has 2 workers

I confirm that buying in the first worker phase is not mandatory in the first edition but is mandatory in the second (I am the maintainer of Saint Petersburg on BGA).
