Yahtzee tips to help you win

Post by patenero »

Note: this might not 100% guarantee you win every game, but helpful if you want to win most games

USING GAMEMODE YAHTZEE ONLY

If you have pairs, try go for them straight away, if you can repeat numbers, then thats good. If the pair happens to be 1, 2, or 3. Put them into your respective upper section (where only that number scores for points). If that respective number is filled in, forget that pair. If there are multiple pairs, in reroll 1, pick the higher value, in reroll 2, pick the lower value (if that isnt filled in already). If you end up with full house, take it immediately.

Straights are the odd ones out, as those dont require same number but rather different numbers.
If you get large straight on your natural roll, take it immediately. If you have an outside straight (2-3-4-5), reroll for that large straight as you have better odds, the small straight is a good filler for any bad pair only rolls.

Note that chance and ones are the same thing, as ones barely score anything, but reminder that ones count toward bonus. Use chance only if you end up with a roll that doesnt fit anywhere in the bottom row and its only pairs. If that is your last one, go for high values (5’s or 6’s)

About the bonus, to get 35 bonus, your upper section must be 63 or higher. That is equivalent to 3 of a kind for each number (known as pace). But there is a way you can easily calculate if you can reach bonus responsibly with all remaining 3oaks. Keep note of each possible value. And note down in your head of that value you will earn, and the 3 oak of that number’s value. If you have more of that number, you will be on pace and have a + value, which means you can sack some of certain numbers of 3oak and still reach bonus. But if you have less of that number, you will be on - pace, which means you will have to fill some higher number in the upper section as a 4oak to be on pace. The 6’s specifically should not be filled if the value is not at least 18 as that will require 2 different 4 oaks to be back on pace. (Example, you earn 1 one, and that is the first upper section box, then your pace will be -2. Then if you fill the next upper section box with 4 5’s, then your pace will be +3. With that +3 pace, you can take 2 3’s to still be on bonus pace.

The yahtzee is the hardest, if you can fill it in, do it. Extra yahtzees are huge and might gurantee you a win. But if late in the game and must 0 something or if filling a box on upper section makes you off pace, make Yahtzee be zero first

3oak and 4oak should be done with 5’s or 6’s. Before filling 4oak with 6’s, check if youre on pace. If you are, then fill 4oak. If not, fill 6’s to be back on pace
