Exactly half my games haven't finished because someone just randomly abandoned the game in 2 of them and someone ran out of time in 1. Admittedly 6 games isn't loads but I think it's enough to show a trend that's a real problem with the community of this game on BGA. I've never had a problem with any of my 6 real time games of Terra Mystica not finishing so I'm not sure why this game is different.
I get that sometimes people just completely disappear and you have to cut the game short (although personally I would always vote to finish it off "turn based"/asynchronously) but I don't ge people's obsession with pressing the button as soon as possible (although I have noticed it on a couple of other games so it's partly a problem with BGA, but again not on the most similar game). I'd much rather have to wait an extra minute or whatever and get to finish the game than have someone kicked. I'm still pretty bad at the game and it's rewarding for me to try and just finish above one or two players, instead of having my ELO inflated by games we didn't even finish. It's not like it's a short game so I always make sure I have a couple of hours (including match making and everything) to be safe but often I just waste 30-45 minutes and not have time to start another. It's frustrating that BGA lets a single player kick another when the others might want to finish (unlike abandoning or switching to asynchronous).
Maybe I should just turn off the flexible option on game speed, even though the only time I ran out of time (but caught up before I was kicked) was my very first game where I got a bit confused with some of the UI and had to spend a while reading the cards we were drafting at the start, but I've had 3 Terra Mystica games on fast speed without incident and to be honest the main reason I play AoI is because it's easier to find a table on here than TM. It'd just be nice if people were a bit kinder/friendly/ more empathetic and let people finish the game.
