Overengeneering a theorethical maximum of Glory

Post by Loki Laufeyjarson »

Hello there fellow Blood Rage enthusiasts!
As of recently i have wondered: Is there, in out perfectly balanced game, some way to gain absurd amounts of glory and what would be the absolute maximum one could reach?
Just to clarify, i am talking about a engineered cooperative game with the explicit goal of getting as much glory as possible on one person and not some boring realistic game ;)

And i came up with some interesting strategies, like having a blessing player repeatedly pillage a province with a Valkyrie of yours, or a repillage strat with the frost giant, or even using other players as "quest storage" utilizing Loki's poison.
Bud these all the the glaring weakness of being finite.

Then it hit me, that you could just get infinite glory with the following setup:
Player 1: Max Axes, Tyr's prowess, frost giant, Thor's ascension
Player 2: Frigga's Protection, Loki's trickery

Player 2 initiates a pillage in any province and reveals Loki's trickery, using the rage to protect the figure of his from being destroyed.
Player 1 reveals Thor's ascension and gains 3 rage, one is used to keep the card in hand, one to go to P2 and one is surplus that can be used to to some ship or frost giant re-pillage shenanigans.

Please feel free to correct me if there is any flaw in my system or if you have own ideas on this topic,
have a nice day and see you in Valhalla!

There is also an infinitely repeatable combo, where player A gets 4+ glory each time, and player B gets 2. So what makes this combo especially interesting is that it can be sensible for both players to repeat it to improve their end placement.

Player A needs Tyr's prowess, Tyr's challenge, and Thor's ascension. Player B needs Volur wich, and Loki's backstab. Player A can repeatedly pillage a single province, and player B can always join with Volur wich. Player A plays ascension and B plays backstab. Both get a net gain of points.

(Of course it's possible for other players to stop the combo, for example by pillaging the other provinces and thus ending the age, and the conditions are very unlikely to occur in the first place.)

That is a good combo; if we re-pillage a glory province with the frost giant and leave out the backstab, it is +21 glory per turn (10 pillage, 8 axes, 3 ascension). Another use case could be using a rage from Loki's trickery to march the witch to a province and pillage to have a +1 rage gain; the first player could do some ship stuff with Odin's judgement in this time.
I would really like to bring Valkyrie and possibly Thor's Conquest in the mix and this might even be possible, although i am uncertain if +10 every other or third round is worth this effort.
