Collectively abandon game strategy abuse

I witnessed a similar issue yesterday when my opponent in Arena tried to collectively abandon (just 3 turns away from finish) when it was clear he is going to lose.

No Message. Nothing. I obviously rejected it. But this to me is a total abuse of this option and yes it qualifies as cheating.

Such players should be reported. I reported him immediately.

The player we’re discussing does this as well. I’ve observed it happening multiple times while spectating their games. What surprised me is that a notable number of players actually accept the offer.

The same person uses another strategy : to quit a game when he understands it's lost for him. Like that, he loses less points, and loses karma too - but he doesn't mind about that. This is worse.

Yes, in normal Elo you lose an extra 10 points. For Arena Elo, there’s no difference - it’s treated like a standard loss.

That said, let’s be clear: he doesn’t simply quit. He deliberately lets his time run out, forcing the opponent to wait until they can kick him from the game.

I’m not entirely sure why he does this, but it’s a regular pattern. It seems mainly intended to be annoying. Since he’s not allowed to use the chat, this is likely his way of frustrating opponents.

He might gain a very marginal advantage from it as well - there’s probably a small percentage of games where the opponent gives up first out of frustration. But that’s negligible compared to the much larger advantage he gets by abandoning games right at the start.

I've recently noticed that there is a player who plays a lot in 7 Wonder Duel Arena who often asks his opponent to abandon the game when he's facing an unfavorable setup - typically when he is second player and only has access to one refresh wonder.

Found him. It's a shame because he seems to be an otherwise good player, so doing this is not necessary to have a good ELO/ranking for him.
