What to do about unfair penalty?

Post by Jeroenpenguina »

Currently I am in a sushi go party game where I need to get a card, though I don't see any. So I can never finish my turn. Which means I will be kicked out as soon as I run out of time. This big is already known for almost 3 years 🤔😳😩

Anything I can do about the reputation hit?

Yes. You can avoid the reputation hit by not playing a game with a 3-year-old known bug that hard-locks the game.

Wow you are the most funny person ever!

Seriously, did you read for each game you play if and which bugs occur?
And how often they occur?

Things you can do:

1. Propose to abandon the game

2. Red-thumb those who refuse to do so, if you wish

3. Play 10 more games to recover your karma.

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic. I've seen several posts in which people acknowledged continuing to start games for a game that has a known hard-lock bug. When you wrote that this bug has been known for 3 years, I thought you were saying that you had known about it for 3 years. I apparently misinterpreted; my apologies.

Regardless, I definitely recommend avoiding that game going forward. If the bug is 3 years old, the developer has likely abandoned the game.

4. You can demand from BGA restore karma, and game points. It works for server crashes, so might work for 3-years known bug.
5. Demand from BGA to fix that bug, lock game or in weaker version to back that game to Beta or even Alpha state until is fixed by game developer (minimal chance to work but I still encourage you to do it ).

To do so, I suggest to write an email at support@boardgamearena.com and explain your concern. I guess writing a bug report (the usual reaction to bugs) won't help in your case.
