policy on using multiple accounts from same IP address?

I was thinking of getting my son involved in playing on BGA. If I make him an account him and I could play some of these games together, but I seem to remember reading a while ago that multiple accounts from the same ip address was not allowed.

Another use for creating him an account is that we could both log into a game that I want to learn how to play, and I could more easily learn it by playing 2 handed. I haven't done this yet, because I wanted to know if this violated any rules.

Is this kind of thing allowed? What if I were to use his account to play a game 2-handed in order to try and learn how to play some games on here?

This is all more or less allowed, but you will need to get at least one premium account for multiple people to play from the same location.

It is allowed to play ranked games with each other as long as they are "honest". You may draw suspicion, though, especially if one of you wins most of the games. If you want to avoid all possible accusations of cheating, you can just play friendly games without Elo. You would definitely want to use a friendly game if you are playing both sides.

Also if you get a premium you can use hotseat mode which allows you to play as two players at one webpage

It's allowed, but a warning does get displayed on the game matching page. I recall occasions where I found myself playing a game against a parent and one or two of their children, making it a safer space for the children to learn online interaction with adults they don't know. (And no, they weren't cheating.)

I wouldn't see any problem if you were playing friendly mode, which is ideal for learning anyway - no ELO or time limits involved.

In short:

Two accounts from the same IP: You need one premium account for that (it could be a third account playing on the same table)

Two accounts controlled by the same person (same or different IP): Only in friendly mode!

One account, several players using the same device (hotseat): You need premium, it will automatically be friendly mode.
