You wouldn’t remove the Queens in a Chess game because they are too powerful.
This analogy is not apt because you have symmetric powers in chess. The issue with overpowered abilities affects asymmetric games.

That lack of normal luck- which I think adds to the appeal of Wingspan-(a less skilled player can win in the board game which includes all of the cards - and the game is designed to be played with ALL of the cards- yes even the lucky ravens) makes this online version inferior.

Without luck it becomes a game of weird strategies and whoever figures those out wins the most. And those people especially hate the idea of a “loser” getting a lucky Raven or similar card. So they don’t exist online. And that gets old, so I can see why if you are losing again just concede.

For example- about “luck” in a synthesized computer game- I have not been chosen as the first player in the last 10 games. Statistically that’s crazy.
The power birds are largely for beginner games. Obviously, they're not good for any serious play, so players quickly realized they should be banned. It's not the worst idea to host and keep a few replays to demonstrate to beginners how absurd they are, though after that, you're pretty much just playing to beat up on the beginners still there, which isn't very sportsmanlike.

The chances of not going first out of 2 players is 1/2, so the chance of it happening ten times is just 1/1024. Uncommon, but if it never happened on BGA with their game count that would be a pretty suspicious.

Include all of the cards and then we would see who is really a “Wingspan God”.
In Chess both players are given queens to start the game, they don't have to get lucky and draw one to get an easy win over the player that didn't. Adding the power birds won't change who the best players are, it will just randomly make more games decided by blind luck and what the players do won't really matter much.

I’m not in the chess community, but I’m guessing competitive players aren’t calling for banning the queen. Yet pretty much every—if not literally every—top Wingspan player thinks certain birds are so overpowered that they shouldn’t be included in serious competition. A strange analogy, indeed.

Yeah, it was rather strange.

When you look at their post, ironically you get this romanticizing of luck merged with complaints about its unfairness. And then a bizarre denial of it with their magical "computer luck". Apparently, they don't like luck as much as they claim they do. A hypocritical praise to luck with a rejection of the rough runs it gives everyone with time.

In fairness, chess is notorious for its luck element.

None of invented Chess or irs rules. However we abide by the rules of Chess if playing.

Why do some of us thing the rules of Wingspan, as originally designed and made with all cards included is only for beginners if you include all of the cards. Respect the original game design. That what made it so popular.

I only had to go to the third game you started before you made this post to find a game in which you were the first player: https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=887253203

Google en passant, lol. I don't know why you like to choose analogies with weak connections to your point that often fail on top of that. Cards being banned for power level issues is something that happens in these sorts of card games.

Oh, of course the things they said happened... may not have even happened. I should know better than to take these people at their word. So often the things claimed are simply untrue from the beginning I should ask for proof that the events even happened as described in the first place. Why does this happen so often, plenty of unlikely things naturally happen over the course of time to pick from, there's no need for people to make some up. :|

I think the deeper question is: if you're going to make something up, why choose something so easily disproven?

Conceding is good because it respects both player’s time in a game that is sometimes very luck based! I appreciate the ability to concede and it is very fair! A win is a win. You should respect the variety of players’ playstyles that are within the rules of the website. :)
