Disabling Support for the Throne

Post by Vol Jbolaz »

I'm not into the competitive scene, so I need someone to kindly explain why disabling Support for the Throne is even an option, please.

Because the publisher approved it, and because it's easy for someone who is upset to give the winning point to another player, which is undesirable in BGA games.

Players who wish to use it can of course enable the option, which is the beauty of options.

FWIW I do play with it enabled, but I can understand why some people would want to disable it. I've had many great games on BGA and a lot of fun, but I have had 1 game where what shaping up to be an intense and exciting final round filled with tension was instead immediately cut short because the person in last place decided to give out their SftT for nothing to the person currently leading, which immediately ended the game on the spot.

That's fine and legal by the rules, but if you are playing with strangers, don't know how they'll use it, and want to eliminate that possibility you can just disable it.

I can understand removing it for those reasons. Guess it would be nice if there was some sort of reputation system to avoid players like that.

I thought it was being disabled because that was like the way things were done at convention competitions or something. I thought there was some reason people thought it was broken and wanted it removed.
