Player making death threats

Post by mystifying lisaaaowe »

Hello.

I just played a game and my opponent lost.

They said they were Russian and would kill me and said they knew where I was (lived)

I reported this to the moderator team but this is crossing legal lines.

As a fairly new user to this website, is there some other means to report this more urgently than awaiting a moderator to see it?

This site is likely used by all ages.
This is incredibly inappropriate.

You're right, and I'm truly sorry that you had to go through that. I hope that you feel safe from actual violence and can handle this emotionally. If not, I suggest you ask for legal and/or emotional support.

I think BGA moderators will try their best, but they are volunteers and probably not trained for situations like that. Normally it can take some days or even weeks before they react to a report. But this is different than a report for cheating in a game or something alike. BGA probably needs some legal advice as well for dealing with it. I am not sure they are prepared for things like this and what they can actually do about it.

They can read the in-game chat if needed to handle the case, so you don't have to worry about that.

This is what the moderationpolicy https://en.doc.boardgamearena.com/Moderationpolicy says:
"Special Urgency Ban Procedure
Whatever the case type, moderators have the right to ban a player from the website if this player creates a situation that is out of control and must be stopped quickly. This special procedure should only be used if there is an immediate danger for the community (ex: site vandalism, pornographic content, massive spamming in the general chat, ...)."
So I think this is the least you could expect.

I am not sure if you can find anything helpful in the terms of service, but here is the link: https://boardgamearena.com/legal?section=tosv

You might consider writing to BGA via support@boardgamearena.com as well, if you are not satisfied with the reaction (time) of the moderator team.
