Spite and Malice Clock Issue / Unfair Player Kick

Post by sarasusan »

It’s easy to go overtime in Spite and Malice when you get a lucky run of cards, even when you try your hardest to be respectful of the clock. I recently played a game where that was the case, and another player kept trying to kick me out of the game after I went 2 seconds over the clock, because I was winning.

My screen was then flooded with errors saying I had to make a move, to the point that I couldn’t even see my hand. I was eventually kicked out by this player and lost 10 reputation points.

It was mean-spirited. They were upset that I was winning and found a way to make sure I wouldn’t. I wish there was a way to avoid this, especially in games where you can easily go slightly over the clock if you’re given a good run of cards. It feels really unfair to lose the game and reputation points over something like that.

I whole heartedly agree. this is the only game where I have to put it on slow speed just to be sure I could avoid that but still open to all speeds so I could get into a game easier. it’s soooo much pressure on fast and I’m almost guaranteed to go over. would be so nice if u could select the speeds (or variations) u want rather than have it be one or all but that’s my personal beef I feel lol

Unfair or not - you can't change other people, only yourself.

There is: play in slow speed.

Language is a source of misunderstanding. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery: The Little Prince) But it is also the source of understanding - it all depends on how you use it. :-)

I hear you! And it's like slow speed can feel toooo slow.

I can understand if you're not playing and not being aware of the other player's time, but when you're in the middle of putting down cards and a player feels the need to boot you, it really ruins the spirit, we're here to have fun!
