iOS - badge notifications?

I've set BGA up as a quasi iOS app using the "add to home screen/open as web app" option on Chrome, which turns the webpage into an app.

This is working very nicely and notifications seem to be working on both my iPhone and iPad, other than 'badge notifications' - the little red notice on the app icon.

Has anyone with a similar setup been able to enable these badge notifications? They would be more handy than the banner notifications.

I also have this issue. I get a push notification on my iPhone every time it is my turn, it is there in my banner notifications, but I cannot get the badge to show up. It works on all my other apps, just not this Chrome/Safari web app.
