WBC is like any other niche part of the gaming universe. And it operates under its own set of rules. You showed up with a certain set of preconceived notions. Those don't fly there. That's not on WBC, that's on you.

Does that make the WBC TFM event right? No. That just makes it its own separate entity. You can either be an agent of change or an agent of disdain. You can work to give constructive criticism to the GM about your various concerns or you can just come on here and spew your hate.

Nothing is stopping you from setting up an event that fulfills your every fantasy about how a ftf TFM tournament should be run. Or you can just hide here and play games however you want. None of that addresses what you think is wrong with the event.

I love WBC. But even saying that I still have plenty of issues with how it is evolving. And I believe that there is always room for improvement. So you can sit there and sling your complaints until you are blue in the face. Or you can step up and work for change. The former is lazy. The latter is hard.

In the end you can bitch all you want. It didn't go the way you thought it would go. Life has a way of humbling us all. Take that as a lesson to be learned. Either come back with different expectations or just don't come back. I think we will survive either way.
What what to the what what???? This is pure twilight zone at this point. You got a total noob playing in the semi final of a marquee event at the WBC TM tournament, if that doesn't sound alarm on WBC I don't know what else to say. WBC marked TfM as an A level event, but beginners participated in doves, to the point of making to the semi final and needing rule explanations. There is ZERO prestige winning a WBC event, no one is going to be like wow that's a WBC TM champion, what an accomplishment, because they are no where near to be the upper echelons at the games, I am honestly about player's elos around the room, they are like barely 400. WBC had ALL the first mover advantages over the years, but squandered them all, that's why it's so irrelevant. You know why there is not much show case at WBC? Why bother even be there at all? No serious designers would waste their time there. It's a closed system, only past WBC participants cares about WBC events or activities. That's the definition of a zombie company, it's biz 101.

That's fine by me. If the "top" players are going to show up and have your attitude, then no thanks. There's not going to be a separate event where you have to provide your credentials to get behind the velvet rope.

As for designers not showing up, you do realize that there was another convention happening at the same time that has a bit more pull. I'm not saying WBC is a high profile event but it has had it's share of industry types show up over the years. Can't help it if Gen Con seems to change it's dates every couple of years.

Sometimes you have to wade through the muck to get to the top. Do I like to win? Yes. But it's just a game. I would rather lose but have a good time than to get all butt hurt about the quality of the competition. In the end just go hit the bar, grab a beer, and find something to play in open gaming.
