Arena games in limbo land

Post by RollingThunder777 »

Have some arena games (mostly Fluxx but one was Lost Ruins) where the game is in my queue but game is in limbo in starting the game.
Doesn't seem to be happening anymore but have a few games where it says game starting and then just scrolls the presss F5 error message over and over.
I did have a few that actually started when I clicked on them but a few that didn't.
Just noticed these today and all started about the same time period.

Is there a way to have these games just deleted so they don't sit in my game queue?
I have talked to a couple of the people I'm playing in those games and nothing either of us can do.

Please, always provide links to the games. It's very helpful to see what you're actually talking about. So I went through all your Fluxx games and found one of the ones you're referring to: https://boardgamearena.com/tableview?table=886277932

That's pretty ugly.

I think you have three options: first, I was able to spam the "X" on the error messages fast enough that I could open the "hamburger" menu in the top and click on "Propose to abandon the game collectively". I'm not playing, so it didn't do anything, but you should be able to do likewise. I believe the dialog your opponent then sees will be lower on the screen and they can agree, and then the game will be canceled with no Elo change or karma loss.

The second alternative is that by clicking on the BGA logo in the upper left, you'll come to https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=886288246 where there's a button you can use to quit the game. However, this will come with Elo loss and a hit to your karma.

The third alternative is, if you wait another 15 days, the game should auto-delete (turn-based games get removed if nobody takes a turn in 40 days).

Wait, I had another idea... if you go into your "Advanced" preferences tab and put this CSS into the text field on that page, it will hide the message and you can use the hamburger menu properly to "collectively abandon" the game.

Code: Select all

.head_infomsg {
  display: none;
}
When you're done, go back and remove the CSS as it a) will prevent you from seeing error messages in the future and b) prevent you from using the bug reporting system if you have any custom CSS at all.

Thank you for taking a look!
I was able to use that press x and get to the propose a mutual concede and let my opponent as well.
Appreciate it!
