Solo bots?

I don't know this game in detail but I understand the solo mode puts you against 2 bots. I had a quick run through a round or two but couldnt see them , are they running in the background or is this more a training mode for solo without any bots.

They should be around. They usually don't affect you very much in the first round or two though.
