What does the Balanced Artifacts option do?

It's not explained in the Game create page. The other options (Normal Game, Long Game) are explained as defining the total number of artifacts in the game.

So what does the Normal option do then? There is no description for it?

I thought that Normal and Long Game are the 2 options covered in the rule book. And Balanced is a special rule added for competitive play.


I guess my question should have been - "What is the difference between Normal and Balanced Artifacts options?"

I guess the normal artifacts option uses the artifact distribution from the game. It's been a while since I played it, but iirc it's 8/10/12 artifacts with 2/3/4 players. The balanced option ensures, that you get the same numer of each artifact color in the game.
