What's the Sales Pitch for This Game Amongst All the Engine Builders Out There?

Post by Meeplelowda »

Does it employ a new mechanic? Or is there a game you'd compare it to and it does the thing that game does better?

The game mechanic by which resources are spent and locations are raised is not one I have seen in other games.

Also, for a small deck game, the difficulty is fairly high. I wouldn't say the complexity is super high, but the difficulty seems to be.

I'm not sure I would describe this game as an engine-builder.

That's what I get for relying on the BGA description.

But from other threads I see there used to be some significant bugs. Are the ones still there something to worry about?

No. There are a couple very minor bugs that are o rare they have yet to actually affect the game outcome.

It's one of my favorite games. I'd be happy to play you in friendly mode if you want to try it out.

It would have to be turn-based. I've watched one of the how-to-play videos, but I'd like to do the tutorial first.

The tutorial sucks.

If you are interested in the game, let's play friendly mode. Turn based (that's all I do, and seems to be your preference).

And you'd be learning from one of the two undisputably top 2 players in the game. (Me).

(I would say I am top 1, but I am biased, so I'll just say I am one of the top two, because that is inarguable).

Aquatica is intriguing because it is "low complexity" (2.32 on BGG I think) and yet has a steep learning curve, and very few people can play the game well.

There are 4 players who I would say play the game at a high level (no disrespect toward anyone else not in that personal top 4 list).

I'm working on a strategy guide that I may or may not publish, but it has 32 chapters. So, there are at least 32 key points people need to understand to pay the gam well.

I say, Dive in (Hah! Pun!). This game has great Depth (Hah! Another pun!).

:)
