I understand why you’re annoyed; it’s happened to me several times. Perhaps there’s a way for us players to report other players in the game for misconduct?

Well, there are ways to report players in game for misconduct, but since blocking is a normal part of the game, there is nothing to report there. Your attempts to cheat by trying to prevent players from making legal moves, on the other hand, are much more problematic. Please refrain from cheating and instead play Ticket to Ride fairly.

It’s just happened for the second time in 20 minutes. The other player has completed their objective cards and is now just blocking your moves. It’s no fun like this, and I’d rather play against NPCs.

For the future, I can – and have – blocked these players; a fair Arena match isn’t possible like this. Anyone who has to win games by doing things like this clearly hasn’t understood what games are all about and has nothing to do with fair play.

I'd say that if you opponent won, they know much better than you what the game is about.

If you only want to cheat at Ticket to Ride, go play somewhere else, cheaters are not welcome on BGA. Ticket to Ride players are not interested in your excuses over your poor sportsmanship.

I think you’ve got something wrong there. I’m not the one blocking. And it’s not about blocking when you need the route yourself. It’s about deliberately and constantly blocking other routes instead of just carrying on playing the game normally.
If you think that’s fair and normal, please don’t play.

I've gotten nothing wrong, I've heard you repeatedly confess to cheating and trying to bully users that play by the rules of the game. Your opponents have been playing fairly, and you continue to insist they cannot make legal moves; this is also known as cheating. This sort of unsportsmanlike behavior is toxic and naturally unwelcome on BGA. Please play fairly.

At the moment, you are playing at a very low level, and so you are paired near the lowest ratings where blocking is still being learned. If you progress higher, players have learned more about blocking and become even better at utilizing it, so you will face even more players able to use it effectively when they need to. :D Do not worry, many of the games where your opponents did not block you may often simply be because they did not need to use blocking that game but are happy to use it when the situation arises. :) It's a staple tool of Ticket to Ride, and like any other tool, the player must decide when it's the tool for the job or not.

Unless you play Ticket to Ride outside of BGA, Ceaseless has played this game for more than you have. He is also extremely good at the game. I think he knows what he's talking about.

The objective is to win the day with the most effective strategies possible. Blocking can be a viable strategy depending on the situation. Someone who only blocks, well they are going to lose most of the time. I don't think I've seen a game where an only-blocker managed to win. They are handicapping themselves by not completing routes and connecting them together.

Here is something you need to understand: your opponent is not responsible for your enjoyment. They are not here to make the game fun for you. They shouldn't hold back and leave points on the table all so they can accommodate your feels. You make your own enjoyment. Moving a core mechanic of the game because you can't handle some buffoon screwing around is not the way to go about it.

I am glad that I could read the name before it was deleted because I could give them a green thumb. I love to play with players who play correctly and give me a fight. In some games that means heavy blocking. Good players know when to block and how to minimize the risk of being blocked themselves.

Blocking - if done correctly - is always a desperate defensive measure because of mediocre tickets. If an opponent tries to block me out of my tickets I know that I have them in the ropes and they are in a worse position. If they then succeed to completely block me and win the game I wholeheartedly congratulate them to a great game!

I try to avoid players who take blocks as personal insults.

But there are many different approaches to the game - everybody shall do to their own liking. There is no right or wrong unless one tries to force ones own playstyle onto others!

There are some exceptions. First, ending the game early is often a form of blocking. All else held equal, whoever triggers the final round has the upper hand. Second, if you've finished your tickets, hindering the opponent sometimes widens the point gap more than focusing on LCP / long routes. Third, some starting tickets mean that you have to block or lose. In that case, I would consider it more of a desperate attack than a defense.

Otherwise I think you raise good points.
