Cheating/kingmaker in Arena

Post by Sobriety_ »

I received a message today suggesting I take a look at two specific accounts and their Tichu games. It doesn't take much insight to see that cheating and "kingmaking" are going on here. I have since identified a third player (using a new account) who is unfortunately also engaging in unfair play. Several new accounts stand out for playing Tichu exclusively at the 100 Elo level, solely to gain entry into the Arena.
I have reported the players in question and commented on their games. Naturally, this unfair behavior negatively affects other strong players who could well have won those Arena matches.

Is it possible to restrict Arena access to accounts with at least 200 Elo points and/or an account age of at least six months, in order to keep such players out?

nahh , its playable - the score and ranking is just meaningless (even more than one would assume) ;)

So, what is the Arena actually about? If someone were to win through cheating and kingmaking, it would definitely not be playable. I have to agree with primrose 1234 on that. Then it’s definitely no fun—and unfair, too. But we’ll see.

Its "playable" in my book because the function of tichu arena, for me, is playing vs competent players that want to play the game (somewhat) competitively - there are other ways to do that, but that is the most efficient/fastest way for me (and works best for me with an EXTENSIVE rt-list...)

sadly, even IF bga had a perfectly competent team AND were interested in fixing this - this particular problem just cannot be reasonably fixed; it can be made WAY harder though to exploit/cheat... but it wont be. judging by every interaction and result I had with the bga team.
