How do I see the other player's boards?

During the game, the player‘s boards are hidden, as the rulebook says during the Game Setup:

Each player:
- Takes a player screen and places it in front of them
- Places a 5×5 Bingo Board behind the screen

Competitive doesn't mean interactive. I think, it is a classic multiplayer solitaire game: you can't mess with each other's boards, but you are still in direct competition to score higher than everyone else in each line. Keeping boards hidden matches the physical game design (which uses player screens). Real-time board sight would only lead to heavy analysis paralysis without changing your own best moves anyway.

But the game clearly wants you to see each other's boards. Why else is there something like the Tunnel card, which allows you to keep one card face down so your opponents can't see it. That wouldn't make any sense if opponents can't see your board anyway.

But the physical game clearly has player screens to hide the player boards. What gives you the impression that the game designer 'clearly wants you to see each other's boards'?
