Why do I have to play the expansion if I have it on Never Play With in settings

I was surprised that I had to play with the incomprehensible expansion packs (5th student, 6th ingredient or something) in my arena real time game. I have had the expansions set to Never in my game settings for a long time. i could never figure out how to play the new rules and they don't add much fun to the game in my opinion (probably because, well, I just don't understand them).

Could it be that the Arena games have now been set up to include these expansions and that this overrides your personal settings? Pity because I am in the gold league, but I don't want to continue if this is the case.

I didn't even realize until the end that I had collected no less than 8 minus points because of the professor role I had, and I had no idea how to collect bonus tokens. The rules do not seem to explain this. The professor task was to add ingredients from bottom to top, while I just used autocomplete as always.

Frustrating to lose ELO and not be able to play realtime because you can be subjected to different rules!

Each new season of arena can have different rules. The rules are selected by the votes of players who are temporarily made "game gurus". You're more likely to become a game guru by playing the game a lot - you can see the details in the f.a.q.

If you don't like this season's rules, you may get a change next season.

Ah so that's it, I wanted to check on the arena rules but could not find them. Still, I think you should be blocked from starting a game if the rules directly conflict with your settings. Either that or you should get information on expansions in the screen where you click on Confirm, before the game starts.
