Ruthless game…

Post by thebigfella »

This is probably one of the most ruthless games I’ve ever played. Literally went from world rank of 8 to like 800 within a week. I can’t believe how unlucky I’ve been it’s ridiculous.

I keep falling into a trap where I beat someone with like 5 more elo than me and get like +10 then randomly lose to someone with 173 who got the best cards ever and lose 30. I wish there was a way to only play ppl in similar bracket as you…

But you had no problem believing you were lucky enough to get to world rank 8?

If this were the rule, you never would have gotten all the way to #8.

If you start your game from the Play Now page, you can click the cog and the very first setting you can adjust is about opponent level, and you can tell it you prefer similar level to yours.

Elo is a flawed system for a luck-based game. For a game like Lucky Numbers, someone who knows the basic strategy will win at least 45% of their games, even against the best player in the world. However, if your elo is too high, people with a lower elo might have a 45% chance of winning, but the elo system gives them a 30% chance of winning. That means you lose elo on average playing against them.

The only way to get a high elo at a game like Lucky Numbers is to go on a winning streak, or ruthlessly only play other high-ranked players. You will lose elo on average playing someone who is competent but not a high elo.
