Predators rule only own cards

Just played a game where Predators came out and when attempting to use it I was only able to take animals from my own animal card, and not from anyone else's. One other player had Pets, so I wasn't expecting to take from that, but they had 2 other animal cards, so I would have been able to take from them in the irl game.
Is this a bug, or does anyone know if it was created that way purposefully?

1) Thank you for posting here rather than creating a bug report. (always better to ask the forum first)

2) Probably protected habitats, as TheNameWasTaken noted.

3) A table number would help people check it for you.

I don't think that card was in play, although there are cards that come up all the time that I've never seen in single player or when playing irl, so it could be something else I just don't yet recognise.
