Expert mode in 2 player game to be ootional

It was discussed a couple of years ago, but is it possible to implement the expert mode in 2 player games to be optional?

It's probably somewhat niche, but is an official variant. So I would say it's eligible, but will probably sit in the queue behind other improvements.
