I am not related to WBC, I have no ownership in WBC, I do not ever plan to attend a TM at WBC (playing 4p in a competitive environment? No thanks); all that being said- I would venture that it is more likely than not that a sample of TM nerdy players... would generally view WBC as a tournament where some competitively, high level T Mars is played.

Lytical here has attended this tournament even.

In any case, I cannot claim to have comprehensive knowledge of every TM tournament and, of those, which have house rules... but my recollection is that, just like WBC, most of them have some amount of rules beyond the official TM rules. And, my opinion, this is a good thing. And I don't even like two actioning (which many folks on here do), I dislike getting high rolled by P Luna / Manutech, and I absolutely think all players should hide their cards purchased amount and resources and pay at the exact same time (and on those cool playmats they have at WBC to keep everything on the up and up, etc). Huge balance issues if some players are allowed some of those, again just my opinion.

How do they handle clock at these events? Do they use chess clocks or some sort of individual player timers?

I think I saw a video once; I think they literally just politely ask people to play at a reasonable pace. Lytical, Rook, you went right? How did they do it ?

Seems to me a chess clock would be ideal, and would solve the annoying 1-action or 2-action "problem".

in a live event, what's the point of making people 2-action if they are allowed to tank for 3 minutes on a turn?

There is no clock they do heats and WBC is week long with all kinds of tournament games under the sun. Generally, Class A events don't have noobies, so there is no problem for slow players, and if a decision is difficult others would understand.

I am also ok with 'this thread dying'; I genuinely enjoy consuming T Mars content (thanks to Stranded and Thread for the cool videos); I've yet to catch an IRL tournament (report or video) where they use the original rules. Also, didn't Fryx already post that they should buff / would buff Thorgate, UNMI, and Inventrix? (or maybe not UNMI?)?

The game is fun I opine, but like all games, some fine tuning makes it much more fun. Everyone gets to decide what they find fun. It is weird to say there are no 'top tournaments' without original rules; WBC gets discussed plenty. I am happy to hear people's opinion on how much or how little it is a top tournament of course. I've no strong feelings either way; but it does some some relatively well versed players show up and play.
