This year's lineup had some outstanding games, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing each one on the list in order to be able to vote. I was surprised to see Galactic Cruise triumph over such fantastic games as The White Castle and Concordia. Overall, it was an very fun experience, the deduction section was particularly enjoyable to explore, and I became absolutely addicted to Orapa Mine!

The question was about why it's appealing, not about how voting works. Those are distinct questions. Saying "it's appealing because it won" is circular.

Appeal is in the eye of the beholder. And you don’t seem to have it.

Have you never changed your opinion after someone giving you a convincing explanation? I didn't enjoy watching the tour de France the first time. But after some time and education on the sport, it is one of my favourite events of the year.

I am not sure why you read my initial question with such negative intent. Do you like toy battle or not? I explicitly stated that I am interested in an explanation.

For example, some games I could say. I enjoy the satisfaction of getting a good combination play to work out. Or the simple game mechanics have a much deeper strategy than first appearance would suggest. If this game won the awards which is by popular vote, it would suggest many people found something great about it.

The reason I asked the question is because when I played it a couple of times on here, I had the complete opposite feeling. I thought it was bad. If I felt like it was decent but not my thing I wouldn't have asked. Obviously there is something that is worthwhile in the game.
