TER Lajes Azores, speed dice for final round ?

Post by gt4w4al »

Hi there !

I think one rule is missing on this landing from Turbulences extension. We have no fuel, no engine, no right to play on engines. But what is our speed at the last round ? What is the target to stop the plane ?

Either we play the speed dice as usual, and brakes must be same or higher.

Either we consider we must activate the ice brakes to 5, the highest level is requested for this emergency landing. (too hard for yellow level ?)

Either we consider our speed is 0 (no dice authorized on speed), so we just need to activate the first braking level. Too easy ? I feel it doesn't match with the story. The plane deceleration is hard to do, so our speed is not 0...

Any official answer? I couldn't find it. Thanks for any information.

Ice Brakes have to be done fully, no matter what.

Do you mean that the landing gear is inactive for the pilot? In this case the blue Aerodynamics marker stays at 5 the whole game. But this is relevant only for the speed in the air.

If you are talking about ice brakes: They are similar to ordinary brakes, but they need 8 dice instead of 1-3 dice. If you deploy all 8 dice then your landing speed is set to 5 (look at the black scale of the ice brakes). You need to land with speed 5 or slower...

[edit: Sorry, I missed Engine Failure in TER Lajes Azores. It is indeed missing in the rules. But since the plane automatically keeps the speed of 1 tile per round during the flight it is safe to assume that it automatically reaches the perfect speed to land.

Thus you only have to deploy all the 4 ice brake levels (8 dice) as you are always forced to do whenever you play with ice brakes. Then the brakes are set to speed 5 and your plane will automatically have the correct speed. No need to influence this via engines (what you cannot do in this scenario)...
