The settings for arena hold'em make luck too large of a factor. Chatting with some of the other better players also agree with this. With only 4 players forces the ranges to be wider increasing the luck factor. Also with starting stacks only 50bb deep it is difficult to survive a bad beat or a suckout due to bad luck.
Ideally the settings should be 100bb starting stacks (200 chips) and 6 players at the table. This would stabilize the game and make it more like proper poker rather than a loose sprint. Although I know that a lot of players don't have the patience to wait for a table of 6 to fill, 100bb stacks and 4 players is acceptable, or maybe 5? Ideally it should be a 6-max table which is the most common online table config.
100bb is the standard tournament starting stack. 50bb is quite short. 4 player 50bb is not good proper poker. All that it does is let the clueless button pushers level the field in these quick 20 minute games. It's okay to have a 45 minute game. 6 players 100bb will rarely go over an hour.
