Multuiple Busts Same Hand

Post by Semprini72 »

The code does not rank the finishing order properly. This is a grave error!

Three times now I have finished 2nd but have been ranked 3rd and it has cost me elo and arena points. This is terribly wrong.

When 2 (or more) players bust out in the same hand, the finishing order is determined by the pre-deal stack size. I had a bigger stack than the other player in these 3 games yet he ended up ranked ahead of me. This is terribly wrong. No poker room on Earth would ever get this ranking wrong.

Scroll down to rule #22 - Order of Finish.

22: BBA: Order of Finish and Bounty Prizes

In games played with big blind ante, if ITM and two or more players bust, the player with the larger starting stack after the ante is put in will finish higher. Likewise if a bounty is in play the player with the larger stack after the ante will receive the higher prize.
And any regular poker player knows this.

On BGA there is no tiebreaker. Players that bust in the same round tie. See for instance your game #929259980 (https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=929269980). You got shared 2nd in this game.

Please note that BGA is no poker site. It provides basic game play but some features a tournament player will expect might be missing. Same with other games like Backgammon...

This is wrong. This is a rule of poker tournaments everywhere, an expectation of the game. This is like playing Monopoly and NOT getting 200 bucks when passing GO.

Certainly many games are played with house rules, but certain rules are never messed with. This is one of them. This is like playing Ticket to Ride and being able to place your trains on a blocked piece of track. If it were coded that way, the players here would be flooding the place with big reports.

It's just wrong.
