New meeple toy 8

I just played today a normal game of toy battle and to my surprise i just discover a new toy implemented to game! The new toy is called meeple wearing the number 8, with an ability that let your opponent draw a toy. I searched in the options to see if this was an option or extension but nothing. I also searvhed on the internet to see whether this is an official new toy or extension but again nothing. In my last attempt to understand where is this comming from, i searvhed any news from bga, but again nothing. Can anyone explain is this a permanent thing? Official? Can we disable it? Thanks in advance!

The publisher, Repos Production, announced it on their socials. It's an official unit.

It is currently being distributed at Spiel. No info yet on what conditions apply to obtain it or where else it will be made available.

Playing with the new Meeple troop is now an option that you can disable when creating your games.

Where can we find the rules for Meeple?

The meeple seems to make the Kwacks a little more valuable, which is nice since they're a bit weak in the base game.

I like that you can look for moments when your opponent has drawn eight pieces already, which allows you to play the meeple with no penalty.

When playing on the station x, where the powers have no effect in the middle, the meeple seems a little overpowered (because it removes his downside).

Lastly, I feel like Roxy (7) was already a feeling a little insecure about not having a power, but now she's downright depressed. I heard her praying for a giant asteroid...
