Looking for a dev to bring SPELLSTORM to BGA!

Post by keithburgun »

Hi all! My name is Keith! I have one board game up on BGA already, Dragon Bridge, which is a super fun card game for two.

I'm interested now in bringing my bigger 2025 release, Spellstorm, to BGA!

Image

Spellstorm is an innovative weird deckbuilder that took me about 3 years to design and I'm really proud of it. Here's the official description:

Introducing Spellstorm, an innovative tactical deckbuilder for 1-4 players! Choose from eight unique Wizards, each with their own set of abilities and do battle on a cursed, gem-encrusted spire in the middle of a tumultuous sea storm! Collect rare magical gems and add them to your deck, powering you up as you cast spells that blast your opponent into the water or launch yourself to safety. Play head to head, free-for-all, or cooperative/solo against Robot Boy!

I don't have a budget for this, but of course I can give you all the assets you need, answer questions you have, and I can also send you a free copy of the game.

On BoardGameGeek (where it has an 8.1 rating currently!) https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/360976/spellstorm

Let me know if this might be interesting to you! Leave a comment below, or email me at keithburgun@gmail.com.

Thanks!

Hi Keith,

I'd like to take this on. I'm a software engineer (professionally since 1997) building on BGA Studio in the new framework. My current build is Ruthless (Alley Cat Games), a deckbuilder with poker-style scoring. It plays start to finish on Studio for 2 to 4 players, with full automated test coverage, and it's waiting on the publisher's art, so I have room for a second deckbuilder now.

Three questions to size it:
1. I see Spellstorm isn't on BGA's license list yet. Have you started that with BGA, the way you did for Dragon Bridge?
2. Are the digital assets ready (cards, the spire board, the Wizards)?
3. Does Robot Boy run entirely from his rules and cards, with no judgment calls? That decides how much work the solo and co-op modes are.

Glad to take the details to email.
